Adoptions FAQs

Get answers to adoptions’ common questions.

Why adopt from the Humane Society of Morocco?

When adopting from us, you are not saving 1 animal only but all its thousands of descendants who were condemned to die or have a life of misery in Morocco.
As a no-kill pet rescue and animal adoption organization, the Humane Society of Morocco has hundreds of puppies, kittens, dogs, and cats just waiting to join your family.

What is the adoption process like?

When you contact us, an Adoption Counselor will help you determine the type of animal that will best fit your lifestyle. They will introduce you to the animals you are interested in. The meet and greet will give you the opportunity to bond with your potential companion. You will have plenty of time to play and interact with your new friend in our family-friendly areas designated for that purpose. When you decide to adopt an animal, the counselor will walk you through the process and help you complete the application.

Is it difficult to adopt from the HSM?

Every charity has its own policies for approving adoptions. Our adoption screening process is designed to ensure that each animal is placed with a responsible person, one that’s prepared to make a lifelong commitment. An important part of the adoption process is to match the lifestyle and needs of the adopter with the individual dog or cat being considered. If the screening process occasionally seems overly strict, please try to remember that our first priority is to consider every animal’s best interests.

I’m allergic, can I still have a pet?

I don’t want to have to fly back to Morocco to pick up my animal. What are my options?

Our flight volunteer program connects people flying in & out of Morocco to other countries, that are willing to add their pet onto their flight. Meaning that the only cost to bear will be adding the pet, as opposed to paying for the entire flight. We are happy to help with this process, however, we do require your commitment to helping us secure a flight volunteer. Whether that be by sharing the post online, or contacting friends or family that you know may be traveling. There is also no guarantee that there will be someone available to escort your pet home & you will need to come & escort your pet home.

Do you really have sometimes purebred animals for adoption?

I can no longer care for my dog or cat and would like to place him/her up for adoption. Will the Humane Society of Morocco care for my pet and help me find a new loving home for him/her?
